Underglaze Transfer - Alligator Skin
Alligator Skin is a bold, organic pattern inspired by the beautifully irregular texture of reptile skin. Rows of pebble-like scales shift from tiny dots and ovals to larger, blocky shapes, creating flowing bands of texture and movement across the sheet.
The variation in scale and density gives this transfer lots of visual interest without feeling overly geometric or repetitive. It’s especially striking wrapped around mugs, bowls, vases, and other forms where the pattern can follow the curves of the piece. Use it over bare clay for strong graphic contrast or layer it with underglaze for an entirely different look.
High quality underglaze transfer printed on thin rice tissue paper.
Extra Large Size: 19”x13”.
Test samples are included with every order. Always test transfers first before committing to a large piece or body of work.
Temperature Range: Cone 06-10. Zinc-free Clear Glaze Recommended.
Level of Difficulty: Easy.
PLEASE NOTE: It is not recommended to rub, sponge or rinse bisqued pieces before glazing as some of the transfers can still smear at this stage.
Once glazed, the transfers are permanently fused to the clay and are considered food safe as long as the glaze used over them is rated food safe.
Check out the Underglaze Transfer process page for detailed instructions on how to use these transfers and/or download instructions here.
